He took the violin out for her and put it into her hand, then took his place next to her.
“This is what I do if I’m not working and I’m away from you, when I let you have dinner all on your own, when I stop myself from enjoying your company, like the fool I am,” he said, showing her the new pieces he’d written for her.
She took them into her other hand, touched them like they were precious jewels.
“Play with me?”
