Chapter 10. The Sinner and the Saint (1)

[2021, February 15th. Caines, Terres Somnia]

After last night’s debacle, Aaron wanted to give them a chance to unwind a little so he took Emily to their home turf, Club Fortunae. Only apparently it was the wrong thing to do. Why did coming here suddenly seem like the worst possible idea?

“This is weird, isn’t it?” he asked.

“No. We practically met here. Why would it be weird?” she answered, sipping hard on her cocktail.

It was totally weird. He jumped out of his seat at the bar and held a hand out to her.

“Come on. This is a date, not a funeral.”

She put her hand in his and let him take her out onto the dance floor. Not even Fortunae’s lively vibe could drown out the thought that maybe coming here with him really was a bad idea.
