Chapter 57. Days 1 to 3: So I Can Stop Him (1)

[2021, February 18th. Imperium, Warlanda]

She played him. They did. Of course, they did. Nathan should really have seen it coming.

While Emily distracted Nathan with booze and well herself, Cassie must have called up her old friend King Troy Pierce and had the air travel ban between Warlanda and Terres Somnia lifted.

By now their plane was landing in Warlanda. Under normal circumstances, Nathan would have saluted the women. Putting one over on him was unheard of. These were not normal circumstances. She had no idea what she was walking into. Worse still, neither did he.

[Phone Call: Nathan to Emily/Cassie]

Nathan: Don’t do this, Cassie. Imperium isn’t safe for her right now.

There was an urgency to his voice that he couldn’t quite control the way he usually would as he tossed his go bag on the backseat of his car.

Emily: I do hope you’re doing okay. I tried to wait until the very last second before tying the restraints to the bedposts.
