Zoey. James. Caroline. Even Henry didn’t stay following the news of James and Zoey’s arrival in Copia. The city was a fortress. Props to James. He had the place so heavily surrounded, not even The King’s Guard was able to follow him and Zoey past the borders of Copia. If nothing else, they were safe, which for the present, was enough.

Even if nothing made sense and he wanted to wring James’ neck for the even bigger mess he’d made of things by marrying Zoey out of spite, Aaron knew he deserved it. After all, Aaron and Emily started this long before James came back.

It was naive to think they could just walk away after consummating their love. He really thought it was gone, that he’d clawed her out from where Emily was etched into him. Should have known he’d seek her out. Just a little pain, the slightest uncertainty about him and Zoey and he’d want a fix, a hit. He’d want his drug. He’d want her.
