Marissa shook her head. She was done with this crap. She had just come back home from work after a day of nagging from Mrs. Martins, and all she wanted to do was soak in a hot tub or let the water from the showers pound on her head for hours, or maybe at least a week, not to come home to harbor a possible criminal.
“Miss Evelyn, was it?” she had asked as patiently as she could, ensuring that the annoyance that was brewing in her was not evident in her voice.
“No, Evelyn is too old-fashioned; just call me Evie,” she said as she came out from the bed, grinning as she dusted off her clothes. “I could have chosen a worse place to hide than yours,” she said. “Yours is one of the cleanest bed undersides I have ever seen before; if it were others, I would probably be removing cobwebs from my hair right now.”
