“I know, right?” Henrietta laughed as she sipped her drink. “I swear kids these days, ehn? I don’t know where they get their sharp mouths from. It now seemed as if we had been learners during our childhood, when we thought we were smart enough. That was how the one in my house was saying it to me the other day with his hands on his waist at the door when I got back late. I was just hearing, “Mummy, as a married woman, is this the time you are supposed to be getting back home?”
Marissa sputtered out the drink in her mouth, barely missing Henrietta’s face as she laughed, “Oh my God. I am sorry. I am so sorry. What? Your kid said that?” She laughed again “What did you say now?”
Henrietta shook her head as she remembered that day. “What would I say? I just had to carry my bag inside before they would lock me out.”
