Chapter 255. Do What You Have to

Bernard had stood outside her room pacing for more than thirty minutes before asking one of the nurses to help check on her to be certain if she was asleep or not.

“She is sleeping peacefully now, sir” the nurse beamed at him as she came back. “She would be fine in no time at all. There is a possibility of her being discharged today or at most tomorrow, as said by the doctor.”

“Thank you very much,” he told the nurse before she left.

Bernard went in as silently as he could as if he was expecting her to leap up to shout at him to get out of her room.

He saw her beautiful face looking so peaceful in sleep and he wondered if there would ever come a day when she would look at him with love in her eyes, feeling peace in her belief and trust that he would never betray her.
