Chapter 28
“Clear. Promise me that you will stay calm, and I will do everything I can for you.”
Once I responded with a gentle nod of my head, Hilda straightened up and stretched in front of me, relaxing every muscle in her body. Her fatigue was evident, even if there were no dark shadows under her eyes. Maybe she was used to the life of a doctor, but even she had her limits. She took the gum out of her mouth and wrapped it in a piece of paper before throwing it into a small trash can that was out of my sight.
“Well, do you want me to help you go to the bathroom, or go to sleep?” she offered me, more animated.
“I think I’ve been unconscious long enough. You should rest, you look exhausted.”
