Chapter 35. Strange Happenings

"What was he up to in our neighborhood? " asked Uncle Henry. The officer shrugged.

"He watched and waited till midnight and then drove off in his car," said officer Burton. "He might have waited for Ms. Russell to come out of the house. Maybe he wanted to kidnap her, given the situation. We're not sure, so we have to wait for him to commit a blunder," said the officer.

"Where did he drive off to? If he's living nearby, then surely he'd come again tonight. The whole day my wife and Vienna stay alone in the house. This is getting really unsafe," said Henry Taylor.

"We'd be increasing the protection from today, Mr. Taylor, but the officers on duty would be in hiding. Don't worry," said the officer. "Last night we traced Mr. Russell to a small family-owned motel, just a fifteen minutes drive away from here. So he might be short on funds. He will come back," said the officer.
