Seris’s POV
I approached the door and eased it open, peeking around the edge. The first thing I noticed was a cascade of white hair, then a face so familiar yet unmistakably feminine—Ronan’s face. My heart thudded as realization hit me, and I panicked, wondering what would happen next and how this encounter might unfold.
“Hello, dear,” she greeted me with a gentle smile. I pushed the door open wider.
She stepped into the room, and I took the time to really look at her. She couldn’t have been older than forty, and she was drop-dead gorgeous. Long white hair tumbled over her shoulders, and her deep black-set eyes were every bit as intense as Ronan’s. This was Ronan’s mother, and the moment I recognized her, I felt my cheeks flush and my palms grow clammy.
“H… hi,” I managed to whisper, my voice breaking into a stutter.
‘Damn it, Seris,’ I scolded myself silently. ‘So pathetic you can’t even say hi!’
