The man monitoring his hostages came in for a report.

“How are our guests liking their stay?”

Drakoen had heard about Mercedes's attack on the guards in a futile attempt to escape. Even if she had managed to make it through those guards, it would have been as far as she got. Even without her child to protect, she wouldn't be able to go against everyone in the tower. It was simply impossible.

“She is not causing trouble anymore, master,” one of the guards said.

The other guard was quiet, contemplating whether to tell his master the woman's request. He thought he should just give it a try since she might pester him again if he didn't even mention it.

“Uh, sir... there is something I want to say.”

“Speak,” Drakoen commanded.

“Yes sir. The lady requests to see you. I
