Mercedes managed to make it to the window before Drakoen could get to her. The night wind blew in her face harshly and her tears felt cool on her face. She took in the night air for a moment. She had made her decision, and she wasn't going to go back on it. Dying seemed to be the last option available to her. She couldn't allow herself to be corrupted and used as a weapon of destruction anymore. More tears continued to come out of her eyes profusely as a sob broke out at the end.

She felt so pitiful. In the moment of her death, she wouldn't get a chance to see her family. She wouldn't get to say goodbye and feel their warmth as she left the world for cold. Instead, she would be in a desolate place with the person she hated the most. With all the sin she had accumulated, it was only befitting. She would take it as her punishment.
