Chapter 33

Connected

She woke up super early and freshened up before moving downstairs to the kitchen. She looked around the tidy space and exhaled. She walked over to the pantry and opened the double door.

Today, she wanted to make breakfast—she wanted to make breakfast for him. She couldn’t hold on anymore. She had run out of patience even after Ava pestered her not to chase him anymore—he’d come back. But he wasn’t coming back. He still wasn’t talking to her, and he was certainly avoiding her.

She was making his favorite breakfast, pancakes with chocolate syrup, to serve him in bed before he left wherever he was going. It was Sunday, but she knew he’d still go out especially knowing she wasn’t going to the bakery today. Sundays were her days off—she got to spend them alone or with Ava and Miley, or just with Ava if Miley didn’t show up.
