Chapter 142. Dining with Wayne (1)

“Wayne,” Alexa said, when he answered his call. “I have something to tell you!”

“What is it?” he answered. “Is Landon okay?” he asked. “What about Leigh and Lionel? Hope there is no problem?”

Alexa shut her eyes, why was life so cruel. She knew what she was going to tell him was going to hurt him but there was no other way to do it and she didn’t want him to find out by himself.

“It is not something I can tell you on the phone,” she said. “Can we have dinner tonight?”

“Of course,” he answered without hesitation. “Name the place it will bey treat.”

Alexa named the restaurant she felt was kind of hidden from view but which was not too intimate. “But it is my treat!” she said, and he could hear the smile in her voice. It calmed him somewhat and he replied with an answering smile in his husky voice. “Okay! Six pm it is then.”
