Chapter 22. Who Could Be Responsible?

That evening, Wayne asked the question that had been bothering Alexa.

“Do you know who would want to do this to you?”

Her secret identity could not have been revealed so soon, so who would want her dead so badly? She could not believe that as cruel as her step mother and half-sister were, they were behind this. They could easily have just revealed her identity and that would have resolved the problem for them without hassles. So, who?

Wayne looked at her for a long time but kept quiet. He did not want to tell her what he had found out. He had considered it and didn’t know what the right decision would be. Any choice he made, there were bound to be consequences.

He recalled how he had bitten and torn the bodies of the men to pieces after they had confessed that it was Camellia Palmer who had sent them. How could Alexa’s sister be this wicked? Why would she want her sister dead? What was she trying to hide? And he could not ask Alexa because she hadn’t recovere
