Chapter 56. Constricting Heart

“Miss Palmer,” it was Mr. Potter on the phone. “Good morning!”

“Good morning, Mr. Potter,” she replied. “Why are you calling so early this Monday morning?”

“I just wanted to let you know that the management has decided that you should take two days off work!” he said.

“But sir, I am okay,” she said, wondering if it was a trick to lay her off work. “What’s the reason for the leave?”

“It came to our notice that you need rest,” he answered. “I advise that you take advantage of this two days because you shall be back at work Wednesday morning at the usual time!”

“Thank you very much for being so considerate!” she said.

“Don’t thank me, you should rather thank the Lyn…” but he suddenly stopped like someone had nudged him.

“Who should I rather thank, sir?” she prompted. She wanted to show the person that she really appreciated their kind gesture.

“Don’t worry. I shall extend your thanks to the right quarters!” he said. “Enjoy your leave!”
