"My love, do you believe that Arbel's tears were sincere? Would she feel the same remorse if she had succeeded in capturing your heart?"

I lean closer to Harad and feel him stiffen for a moment. He's on guard and familiar with my tendency to provoke snags with my inquiries. His expression reflects this state of heightened awareness as he takes a moment before giving me an answer.

“Many criminals do feel remorse later on," he noted carefully. “But the reason behind this is often dubious. Some may regret their decision because they did not follow through and miss out on potential benefits, while others may recognize the foolishness of their original plan after it's too late to turn back. The true reason for a criminal to regret remains a mystery.”

“Why are we sitting on two separate chairs?” I complained now. “Once we take over from your parents, I will change this tradition. The King and Queen's roles should be equal, ther
