What Ciaran and Tamara said during dinner affected Jamila. I could tell she was trying to hold in her tears, and her hands were quivering slightly. I glanced at her, but she didn’t meet my gaze.

My parents are scolding Vicky through the mind-link, and she looks apologetic for seeing Jamila so hurt. I wish I could comfort her or say something, but there’s nothing to say. What can I say?

’And Lily, why are you acting that way towards Jamila?’ Mom asks. Indeed, my sister doesn’t like Jamila, and she doesn’t hide it.

’Hey, what did I do?’ she asks.

’Firstly, you keep glaring at her, and you ignored her when she greeted you after they arrived,’ Knox counts.
