The silence is deafening. If a pin drops to the ground, I’d hear it. “Joshua, I ... I take you to be my... my ...” Another pause. Josh smiles and shakes his head. Vicky opens her mouth, but Josh stops her.

“We don’t have to do this, Victoria. I know you love me and don’t want to break my heart, even though yours is. I can’t watch you do this for the rest of our lives,”

Murmurs go through the room. Vicky is crying for good now, “I love you, and I know you do, but not in the way you love him, so go to him,” Just as he finishes speaking, the doors open, and Drake rushes in, breathless.

“Oh, my goddess. It is like a drama,” Emily whispers. I nod, my eyes going back and forth from the aisle to where Drake stands. Nicholas squeezes my hand. “I think Drake is here to stop the wedding. You were right,” he says in my ear.

“Of course, I was,”

Vicky sobs and hugs Josh tightly before running into Drake’s awaiting arms.
