Ares' expression softened, "I didn't mean to startle you earlier," he said, his voice low and husky. He leaned closer, his fingers gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "What were you dreaming about?" he added, his tone coaxing and gentle.

Martina's eyes fluttered closed as she felt Ares' tender touch, the warmth of his fingers lingering on her skin. Her mind was still foggy from the remnants of her dream, the traumatic memories that haunted her. 

She didn't want to reveal the truth, the painful past that had left her scarred and afraid to be vulnerable. But Ares' soft gaze and soothing voice made her feel like she could trust him like he would understand.

"It was nothing," she lied, trying to brush it off. She forced a weak smile, hoping to shift the conversation. "You know I could have shot you. Next time, don’t act like a creep, okay?"
