Carter nods his head in agreement, he stares at Lara, filled with happiness that she’s back to being her energetic, fun and determined self, “I know I’m hot but your stares might take it away,” she teases him.

He ruffles her hair while scanning through the books, the room is filled with fresh air, sweet flavory scent in the air, the silence is there but not the awkward kind.

Her phone buzz breaks the silence lingering in the room, it’s a text from Chris, ‘I won’t be able to pick the kids from school, unfortunately I have the night shift today.’
