Chapter 21. Lara’s Bane
The first head rolls across the emerald carpet and stops in front of five trembling men. One of them falls to his knees and proceeds to retch out his breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is quite a lot, to be honest, considering the sheer size of him.
Today's location is a different one, an eerie space in the shady part of Grosthe. Within a dark enclave where they convene, the floors are not hardwood, but covered with a carpet, which means only one thing. A bloodbath.
The shadowy entity swaggers towards the next victim.
“You, what is your excuse, huh?”
The only response that follows is the sound of whimpers and sobs. But the interrogation continues.
“Why are the Crofts’ shares still topping the stock market?”
Again, no answer. The teasing jaw of a man standing nearby can be seen through the faint yellow light from a bulb hanging down a slender wire from the roof, swinging and dancing with the woozy breeze which creeps in from the wide open door
