Chapter 26. I See Your Secrets
The phantom pain of the bullet that pierced through his shoulder blade remains ever-sensitive to Michael. And although he is relieved after going under the knife, the vistas of memory from that day still torment him in his dreams, and sometimes in broad daylight.
At times, the intense fear hits him hard, reminding him of how helplessly he lay on the hard ground, staring at the skies as if waiting for an angel to come down and take his soul. The thought of dying without achieving all he wanted to, the tears that would be in his parents’ eyes, oh lawd.
On the bright side, he can still recall the face that echoed through his subconscious when he was still in a coma, the voice that drew him back to life, and that one touch that made him believe he could live again.
It was all Lara’s, wasn’t it? His wife-to-be, or rather, his fiancee.
If not for the cruelty of fate, would she not have been his wife by now?
