Chapter 246. A House Divided
"Are you sure about this?" Chris asks Lara, his voice barely above a whisper. A short lull lingers between them. Then, Lara nods, though her heart is heavy because of the decision. "It’s the only way to keep them safe."
Chris sighs, his gaze lingering on the door where the boys have disappeared. "I hope you’re right." He echoes, a reflection of the uncertainty in his heart.
On the way home, Chris remains silent despite the storm of questions brewing inside him. He can’t blame Lara for wanting to send the kids away to a boarding school again, but given what happened the last time, he is certain this isn’t the best idea. He has grown so attached to the boys that he is afraid that these recent events will kill him instead of hurting the boys. Surely he won’t let any harm reach them. They are his happiness in this mad world.
He just hopes history does not repeat itself, since they already have enough on their plates.
