Chapter 294. Unraveling Truths

“No,” Zach says firmly. “It doesn’t make it okay. But I need you to understand that I didn’t want any of this. I didn’t want to hurt you.”

Lara’s eyes fill with fresh tears. “I didn’t even know who the man was that I slept with. I woke up alone, and I never saw him again. I didn’t even know if he was the one Claire had arranged.”

Zach’s face is filled with sympathy. “I understand. And I want to make it right. I want to be there for our children. I want to help you in any way I can.”

Lara looks away, her mind reeling. “I don’t know if I can ever forgive you or Claire. But at least now I know who their father is. That’s something.”

Zach reaches out and gently touches her arm. “Lara, I know it’s a lot to process. And I don’t expect you to forgive me right away. But I want to be a part of our children’s lives. I want to make amends.”

Lara takes a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts. “I don’t want to start anything with you. I don’t want to rekin
