The reason she had gone home in the first place was that she had forgotten to take some important documents with her. Since Christian’s study was on the way to her room, she only intended to pass by, but instead accidentally overheard their conversation.

‘Such bad luck!’ she cursed internally.

Her heart was pounding so loudly that it echoed in her ears. She suddenly felt scared and paranoid, worried that Christian had somehow discovered her and was planning to threaten or blackmail her again.

She shuddered at the thought of what he might do to her father, who was currently being treated at Dr. Colmen’s facility. From her research on the disease, she knew that if the treatment was interrupted or stopped, it would be the patient who suffered.

She couldn’t bear to endanger her father in any way, especially when Christian still had her under his control.
