Chapter 25. Her Silent Struggle
“Brilliant,” I snarled, tossing my hands into the air in exasperation. “You haven’t the faintest idea what’s really going on, do you?”
“Daniel…” Margaret murmured, her tone meant to soothe but grating on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard. “Let’s just talk this through. We’ve had fights before—every couple does. I know we can work it out. I’m sorry I got angry. Just start from the beginning; I’m listening.”
My lips curled into a snarl. “You are no Luna.”
At that, her lower lip trembled, and she stared at me, pleading silently for an explanation. She truly had no clue. My blood boiled at her ignorance.
“How dare you?” I growled. “How could you think any she-wolf deserves such harsh punishment for something you know full well wasn’t her fault? I attacked her. She defended herself, justifiably—and yet you insisted she be beaten! You believed she deserved that kind of suffering?” Even saying the words again set my fury ablaze.
