Chapter 19. Forsaken

Selena stepped out of the house, the sound of Cat and her parents arguing in the background. She was grateful that she could sleep somewhere last night, somewhere warm and safe.

But now, she felt bad that she had caused problems for her new friend.

Where was she going to go now? It was still early, the sun wasn’t even fully in the sky yet and the wind was cold. Sighing, she started walking, putting more distance between her and the suburban house.

She was happy her charge had been dropped and that she wasn’t wanted anymore. It made her life much better, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t still crappy.

She walked and walked, deep in her thoughts until she found herself outside of Elijah’s house. That was when she stopped and stared at the front gate.

Why had she come here? Maybe because she felt like she could still fix things? Maybe because she felt she could still try to get her life back.
