Chapter 108. Just Friend’s Talk

June POV

Did he just say that? For a second I think I’ve misheard, the warmth of his arm around me twisting into something colder with those words. Find me someone else?

My chest tightens, my heart thudding a little harder. What does that even mean?

My head tilts up before I even realize it, eyes widening on his shadowed face. “You’re joking right?” I whisper.

He doesn’t answer. The silence stretches, and I force out a brittle little laugh. “Unbelievable. I still haven’t forgiven you for disappearing on me, and now you want to disappear again?”

Before I can pull away, his hand closes firmly over mine. “I’m not disappearing,” he says quickly, his voice low but steady. “I’ll still be here. Our relationship still stands till...uhm we find someone for you.”
