Gabbie POV

“Hey, what are you doing around here?” Alex appeared stopping me in my tracked. He stood under the orange sky. Shoulders back and hands shoved in his pocket as he walked toward me.

I tugged my coat around myself and stared at the rocks near my feet. Alex caught me going to the Alpha castle to see Kade. I hadn’t expected to bump into him.

“Going for a walk. Trying to clear my head.” I shrugged.

He closed the distance between us. The wind zipped through us, sending the scent of his cologne straight to my face.

“That all Gabbie? You don’t come this close to the castle.”

“Yeah,” I said, swallowed the lump in my throat.

“Mind if I join you then?”

I shot a quick glance at the castle. Kade’s room was on the other side. I nodded, so much for seeing Kade tonight. Maybe this was the opportunity I needed to tell Alex the truth.
