Chapter 38

Gabbie POV

“Don’t worry love, you’re safe now. Get comfortable it’s going to be a long bus ride,” The man driving the worn-down bus smiled.

“They aren’t going to come after us?”

He shook his head, “We’ll be fine.”

I dozed off. Kade was an Alpha wolf and those were his pack members they wouldn’t kill him. I had to convince myself they hadn’t injured or killed my mate. I couldn’t kill the fear of never seeing him again though.

I woke as the bus screeched to a halt, jolting me forward. I rubbed my eyes and peered round the seat to the windscreen. I caught sight of trees illuminated by front porch lights. The house next door was black with only the light from the neighbours shining on it.

“This is your stop, dear.”

I swallowed. “Are you sure?”

He nodded. The bus doors opened. I didn’t have a bag to carry. All I had remained at the academy.

“Take care,” the bus driver said.

I nodded and gave him my thanks. I rub
