Adrian POV

I sat in my home office, staring down at the folded piece of nylon bag on the desk in front of me. My hands felt heavy, almost reluctant, as I unfolded it carefully. It was Kelly’s DNA sample. I had obtained it days ago, though the guilt of doing so had plagued me ever since I got it.

The possibility of it being true terrified me more than I wanted to admit to myself.

A knock on the door broke my train of thought, and I fumbled with the nylon paper quickly, shoving it into a drawer just as Kelly stepped into the room.
