Kelly POV
The tension in the house was suffocating. I could feel it in every room, pressing down on my chest. Adrian had been distant ever since Olivia’s arrival, pulling away from me little by little. And I could not take it anymore.
Every word Olivia said seemed to carry a hidden meaning, like she wanted me to know something but she would not just say it outright. Her smiles felt sharp.
I found him in the kitchen, leaning against the counter with his phone in hand. The overhead light was too bright. He looked up as I walked in, and his face went guarded the second he saw me.
“Adrian,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest. “We need to talk. Now.”
He sighed, a long tired sound, and set his phone down on the counter. The screen went dark.
