Book 3: My First Shift
Lyra’s POV
We reached Lucania's main entry point, and Leandros warmly greeted his sentinels. They peered at me as I sat nervously inside the car. I noticed how much they liked Leandros, their gamma, as he joked with them and cleverly diverted their attention from me.
After a few minutes, we were on our way to his house.
With my breath stuck in my throat, I could hardly breathe, let alone utter a single word to him. He looked equally alert, and I felt guilty for putting him through this.
“I’m sorry you're going through this because of me.” He chuckled instead of reacting adversely.
“You change your mind every second, don’t you?” My mouth hung open at his judgment. It wasn’t baseless, yet I felt like a fool in front of him.
“So? It proves nothing. My mind races all the time with a million thoughts. Everyone’s do. I weigh the pros and cons!”
