"Do you want to talk about something? Because if yes, just tell me what it is, because I don't want to play the guessing game here," I ventured, attempting to breach the silence that had settled between us.
As the words hung in the air, I grappled with the possibility that Silas might not be referring to the pregnancy. Perhaps I was being delusional, and he had another concern entirely—one that I hadn't anticipated. Yet, my hopes of diversion were shattered when he approached and placed something on the bedside table.
"Explain this," he demanded, his voice carrying a mixture of hurt and accusation. My eyes reluctantly settled on the table, where the unmistakable pregnancy test lay exposed. The room, once a haven of sterile calmness, now crackled with unspoken truths and the weight of impending explanations.
I hesitated, my mind scrambling for any plausible reason to offer him, my gaze fixed anywhere but on him.
