Chapter 39. Farida's Demands
Moses was not surprised by Eliza's silence. Now he was sure she had made a deal with a god. He hoped the beast would come back and tell him what was happening to him right there at dinner. He had to reveal that secret in front of everyone and order her to leave with Don João the next day. He did not wish that. He couldn't think of not seeing her every day and without the beast to tell him if anyone was really in danger, he would do nothing. His thoughts were interrupted by her voice.
"I think it's about time my husband pleased me a little." She said smiling at him.
"Why should I? You deserved a punishment for leaving the palace without talking to anyone and you still want pleasing?" He said annoyed.
"Your concubine has done worse and you've pleased her more than me, I'm Farida and I deserve to be treated as such. Until when will they have more than me? How long will you humiliate me like this?"
