Chapter 43. Punished
Demy was speechless and Moses turned to Afhany.
"It seems they don't mind seeing you pay for other people's mistakes."
Afhany stared at him with hatred. But she was afraid too. She had developed a dread of him after Pharaoh had abused her, not allowing her to feel pleasure, only pain, and had gone on for too long without leaving her. She felt humiliated.
"No Moses. They won't tell you the truth because it is worse than someone setting Afhany free." Liã said hoping to become Moses' favorite.
"What do you mean by that?" Moses asked turning to her with a frown.
"It wasn't us who freed her. She simply changed her clothes and when she went to leave the room, the chain was no longer binding her." Liã spoke, facing Afhany's hateful gaze. "But today you cannot keep your promise to Afhany. Today is my day and I will not allow you to do that."
