Chapter 3

“Mom, what kind of school is this? Why do all the students dress so elegantly?” Kim looked at the grand school in front of her and couldn’t help but ask.

Liliana gently stroked Kim’s head, smiling brightly. “This is the best elite school. I had to spend a lot of money to get you both enrolled here. Don’t disappoint your mommy.”

“Oh, Mom, do you see that boy in the limited edition suit over there? It’s the same suit I saw last night. It costs over thirty billion!” Mei exclaimed, and he had indeed noticed the suit.

The boy overheard and sneered, but he didn’t bother to look back at the envious person behind him.

“Do you all see that? He seems so arrogant, even tilting his head like that,” Kim pointed to his silhouette, looking amazed.

Liliana glanced at the boy and was reminded of the tall and robust man from six years ago. In an instant, she felt a resemblance but quickly pushed this random thought out of her mind.

“Kids, hurry and go to school. Mom needs to go to work,” Liliana said with a gentle smile, planting affectionate kisses on their cheeks.

“Goodbye, Mom!” Mei held Kim’s hand and walked into the school.

Liliana watched the two kids enter the school and felt a warm feeling inside. No matter how tough or tired life got, she was determined to make sure her children grew up happy. With that thought in her heart, she hurried to her job interview.

Liliana’s job interview was at Waymont Design Group, a prominent design company. For the past six years, she had been self-taught in design and occasionally sought advice from her grandmother. Even though her mother had divorced her father, her grandmother still loved her dearly. Her grandmother was a renowned designer who had since retired.

“Liliana, please come in!” The interviewer called her name, and with tense hands, Liliana took a deep breath before entering.

The interviewer observed Liliana closely, asked a few questions, and then told her to return home and wait for a call. They had actually already hired a creative director for the advertising department, but they didn’t want to let go of Liliana, who showed such excellent potential, as well as the design proposal she had brought. She was undoubtedly a talent.

Liliana stood up gracefully, smiled, and nodded to them, then turned to leave.

“Wait a moment!” Just as she was about to step out of the door, the female interviewer suddenly called out.

Liliana was surprised but quickly put on a smile and gracefully stopped and turned back.

“We have an opening for a secretary. Would you be interested?” The interviewer looked at Liliana and, based on her face, figure, and demeanor, believed she could handle a secretary position.

Liliana raised an eyebrow, realizing that the position of Creative Director had already been filled in their company. “I’m sorry. I don’t want to be a secretary.”

“Don’t rush to refuse. The secretary’s salary in our company is also quite high. Besides, if you perform well, you could take on the role of Creative Director,” the interviewer explained that the higher-ups made the final decision, and their goal was to keep talented individuals like her.

The last statement intrigued Liliana. Working as the Creative Director at Waymont Design Group had been her biggest dream. She took the opportunity.

“Alright, when can I start?” Liliana asked, and she checked the clock on the wall. It was already 8:40, so she couldn’t begin working today.

The interviewer also glanced at the clock and smiled gently. “You can report to the Human Resources Department. You can start working today.”

Liliana was slightly surprised. They would start on the same day as the interview? What was going on?

After completing all the paperwork, Liliana went to the Human Resources Department to report. It was already 9:30 by the time she arrived.

“Bring the coffee in here!” Suddenly, a low, cold, and authoritative male voice echoed in the office.

Liliana immediately went to prepare the coffee, wondering why she was the only secretary there. Where were the other secretaries?

She gently knocked on the door and heard, “Come in!” in a cool, crisp tone.

As Liliana walked in, she was surprised to find the handsome man she had met in front of Anna’s house the day before. He was sitting there with a cup of coffee, and there was another impeccably dressed woman beside him. Liliana looked at her own cup of coffee, feeling awkward.

The man was looking at Liliana, confirming that she was the one who had just received a call from the HR department. His gaze lingered on her, and he couldn’t help but be irritated.

“Bring the coffee over here,” he said, cold and unyielding. He then put down his coffee cup, and his dark eyes turned to Liliana.

Liliana felt the scorching gaze of the woman by his side. She knew that the woman was angry.

The man took the coffee from Liliana’s hand. His long fingers brushed lightly against hers, and he could feel her tensed body.

His deep and intense eyes seemed to penetrate her soul. Liliana couldn’t help but blush under his intense scrutiny.

The man was enjoying the coffee she had prepared. As he took a sip, he initially tasted bitterness, as there was nothing added to the coffee. But then, the sweet taste followed. Liliana’s coffee was superb.

“From now on, you will be the one making coffee for me, and I want it to taste like this every time,” he said calmly without lifting his eyes from his documents. It was as if there were no other people in the room.

Liliana was taken aback, not sure what he meant by this. She couldn’t move forward, and she couldn’t step back. She stood there, bewildered, for what seemed like hours, although it was only a couple of minutes.

Liliana found the work of a secretary challenging. She had to control her temper and comply with the orders of her boss, Stephen. However, her salary was well worth it.

“Lyly, you can go now. Liliana, make me another cup of coffee,” he ordered, still not looking at Liliana.

With frustration, she made the coffee as instructed and set it on Stephen’s desk. He had already gathered his documents and was about to leave the office. As he passed by Liliana, he gave her an enigmatic smile, and she couldn’t quite grasp his intentions.

“Don’t worry about the coffee anymore. Come with me to the party,” Stephen said as he walked out, completely ignoring Liliana’s surprised expression.

Liliana was now furious, thinking about why she had to go to the party. She couldn’t understand his attitude, and she had a powerful urge to drop the coffee cup on the floor and leave. Stephen, in her opinion, was acting unreasonably. After all, she wasn’t his girlfriend. Why should she attend his party? She wondered if she should continue working in this place.

“Taking part in the party will be considered overtime and compensated,” Stephen said.

Liliana’s anger disappeared in an instant. With this kind of pay, she might consider it.
