Chapter 5
Liliana arched her graceful lips, revealing a bright smile that showcased her enchanting dimples. This radiant expression made her even more alluring, momentarily taking everyone’s breath away.
“What are you laughing at?” Cherry was obviously displeased with Liliana’s smile. She was trying to insult Liliana, but Liliana just laughed.
Just then, a young boy strolled in, casually observing Liliana for a moment before turning his attention to Cherry. Then, his gaze settled on Liliana again, and his face broke into a delighted smile. He thought his mother’s smile would be as beautiful as hers.
“Cherry, your temperament is too low, yet you dare to insult others. This beautiful lady clearly doesn’t want to talk to someone of low temperament,” he calmly remarked. His words, while mild, struck a nerve with Cherry, filling her with the urge to reprimand him.
It was fine to say that she had a low temperament, but he called her ‘Cherry’ and then referred to the other woman as a ‘beautiful lady.’ Liliana was more beautiful than her in what way?
Liliana’s eyes briefly displayed astonishment. She hadn’t expected that a child could decipher her intention so accurately. How intelligent he was! She couldn’t help but lower her head and take a deep breath.
His angelic face resembled Mei’s, but why was it so?
“Samuel, adults are talking, and kids shouldn’t interrupt,” Tom said, evidently irritated. Cherry was the Forest family heiress, and she couldn’t allow this child to humiliate her.
Samuel calmly observed Liliana. For the first time, he felt a deep affection for this woman. Her eyes were so gentle; they seemed to exude the loving scent of a mother.
Stephen hadn’t expected that his son would speak up. In his experience, his son rarely engaged in conversations. Regardless of whether they were talking with him or someone else, his son valued his words like gold. However, now his son was speaking so much to this woman.
Stephen’s eyebrows knitted slightly. Still, they quickly returned to their icy calm.
“Beautiful lady, this place doesn’t welcome you,” Samuel said, suddenly speaking up. He glanced at Maria and Cherry, then offered a cold, Stephen-like smile. His demeanor and Stephen’s were eerily similar.
Cherry immediately forced a smile. This little boy had finally said something relatively pleasant.
“That’s right, this place doesn’t welcome you at all,” Cherry arrogantly stood up. Now, even this little brat had taken her side. She wanted to see how much longer this woman could hold her head high.
Tom gave a sharp look at the scene. He understood Samuel. Samuel was like Stephen, having a stubborn personality. The boy had inherited everything from his father, including his stony heart.
Liliana patted Samuel’s head. She felt like such a failure. Even a child could see that this place was unwelcoming.
“Even if everyone doesn’t welcome me, as long as one person does, it’s enough,” Liliana said, locking eyes with Stephen. They gazed at each other, calmly sharing a smile.
Stephen suddenly held Liliana’s hand and smiled at her with the utmost tenderness, his eyes filled with affection. At this moment, in his eyes, there was only her.
Liliana looked at Stephen and wondered why his eyes could be so gentle. Could he pretend a little more? If he acted more, she might believe it was real.
“This place doesn’t welcome me, then it’s no different from not welcoming you either. Let’s go,” Stephen said, his voice unusually gentle. He led Liliana out as if there were no one else around.
Cherry rushed forward, wrapping her arms around Stephen from behind.
“Stephen, don’t go!” She liked Stephen; she had admired him since she was young. Initially, she wanted to have children with him, but he sought someone else.
Stephen’s eyes darkened. He looked at Liliana and wondered if she should show a bit of jealousy now. After all, he was ‘her man’ now.
Liliana was slightly stunned, but she still wanted to keep up with the act. Originally, she hadn’t intended to pretend, but she suddenly saw Stephen’s long, slender fingers signaling. What did that mean? Was it about the two million dollars she wanted? Liliana thought so, gritting her teeth to continue the act. After all, she was doing it for the money.
“Miss, aren’t you aware that hugging someone else’s boyfriend is highly unethical? His body is meant for me alone,” Liliana hinted, looking into Stephen’s eyes, adopting an affectionate expression as if she was reminiscing about the physical closeness she had with him.
Cherry seemed like she was about to lose her mind. What did she mean by saying his body was meant for her alone? Wasn’t Stephen the man designated for her?
“Stephen, what she can offer, I can offer as well,” Cherry said. She turned fiercely towards Liliana, implying that her prowess in bed wouldn’t be any less than Liliana’s.
Liliana fought back laughter. Did this woman want to provoke resentment? Talking about sex so explicitly?
“I can die for him. Can you?” Liliana suddenly asked, her words like a grenade that shook everyone present.
Even Stephen, who was still being hugged by Cherry, revealed an unusual expression. This woman’s reactions were beyond his expectations. Indeed, it was interesting.
Cherry was terrified, too. To someone wealthy, saying the word ‘die’ was a truly alarming choice of words. She didn’t even know where to leave her money if she died.
Seizing the opportunity, Stephen pushed Cherry away and quickly left, ignoring Tom’s angry calls behind him.
Once they left the mansion, Stephen’s face immediately turned cold, returning to the indifference he had shown moments ago.
Liliana looked at Stephen’s swift change in expression and was a bit surprised. Could someone’s mood change so quickly in this world?
“Sir, about my compensation…”
“Go to the company’s accounting department to collect it,” he said coldly, his voice containing a hint of impatience. Couldn’t this woman keep her mouth shut about money?
Liliana, on the other hand, didn’t care about Stephen’s impatience. What she cared about was how much money he would give her. Based on what he had said, did that mean her performance today had passed, and would she be paid accordingly? She remembered the gesture he made. Moreover, if she sold the clothing she was wearing today, it would probably fetch her several tens of millions.
Today, she had made quite a significant amount of money. She intended to save up some money and, after some time, go visit her father in prison. Even though she had said she wanted to sever her ties with him, he was still her father, and he had raised her for eighteen years. No matter how much she needed, she would redeem her father from there.
“Sir, may I ask how much I earned for working overtime today?” Liliana asked suddenly. She needed to calculate how much she had earned. If such situations came up again in the future, she intended to take part willingly. After all, she had a monetary goal.
Stephen abruptly halted the car. He couldn’t believe this woman was asking about money again. Couldn’t she tell he wasn’t pleased?
“How much do you want?”
