Chapter 81. Heat
This was the first time he had smelled something as sweet as this, and blood rushed somewhere downward in an instant and he strode towards her.
“Evangeline?” He called out, turning her over, only to see her pale face with beads of sweat rolling off.
Instantly, his heart skipped a beat as the girl opened her eyes, and unlike the usual calmness that used to reflect in them, all he saw was pain, enough to make whatever he was feeling quench down almost immediately.
He made her sit up and used the pillow to support her, then asked, “What’s wrong?”
The girl placed her head in his arm weakly. “Tummy.”
He placed his hand on her abdomen and massaged it lightly while gazing at her with unconcealed worry. “What’s wrong with you there? Should I go and call the doctor? Does it… does it hurt so much?”
He saw the girl nod. “Yeah, so much that I feel like dying.”
Stunned, he stood up and scooped her up in a bridal style, then proceeded to walk to the door.
