I was still in a daze after Eros left. All the guests had their dinner and left after an evening of enjoyment. It was torture for me to answer their questions. Jess helped a lot, and I could see she was struggling to restrain her curiosity in front of so many guests. I got busy with Dad, although he tried hard to show he was normal.
“It’s time for your medicine, Dad. Let’s go to your room.” Uncle Jeremy helped me escort Dad to his room. Ever since Eros left, I felt too embarrassed to face Josh’s parents. They might be so disappointed in their only son. He vanished without giving them a clue about his plans, embarrassing them in front of their friends and relatives.
Jess left the room while I administered the medicines to Dad.
After she left, Dad turned to face his best friend and benefactor. “I’m sorry for the way things turned out, Jerry. It wasn’t what we had planned, but maybe that’s what the children wanted.
