Deborah came into his room to summon him. “Officer Stewart is here to see you, Mr. Laurier.”

Maddox sighed and nodded at Deborah. After she left, he gave Declan a crestfallen look. “I had expected Iris. Please, can you tackle Officer Stewart? I’m not in a condition to face him.”
