Caroline's POV

I groaned and stretched on the bed, my muscles strained as I stretched and yawned. I couldn't remember the last time I slept so well. I never thought I'd enjoy the mundane feeling it brought, but halfway through my stretching, I heard a voice from close by.

"You must've enjoyed your night," a masculine voice made me jerk from the bed as I turned to the side, with an accusing look. Wondering what a man was doing in my room when my eyes met Jackson, who had a rueful smile on his lips as he stood beside where I sat on the bed.

"W-what are you doing here?" I asked, instinctively pulling the sheets up to my chest as his scrutinizing gaze made me feel vulnerable.
