As I slowly got up from the ground, feeling the pain in my neck from Derick’s tight grip, I reached for my cell phone, tucked securely in my morgue uniform, my fingers still shaking from the shock of it. My hands trembled as I dialed Blake’s number.

“Blake, it’s me,” I said, still panting. “Derick and Sophia, they attacked me. They took Anita’s body.”
