Iris got this a week after her lengthy discussion with Adrian. She shed a few years. It was sad really. They had started well, at least so she had thought when they met. She had been so sure theirs was going to be like the love her parents shared that had stood the test of time and survived against all odds, but it was not meant to be.

“Iris, what is the problem?” Millicent asked, when she saw tears in her daughter’s e
