"Clement, it's been a while since we chatted. Seems like I've missed you. Let's go for a drink. I need your opinion." James intervened to steer the conversation away from the dangerous ground.

Looking at James, Matthew only smiled, aware of his apprehension about potential eavesdroppers.

Clement looked at him suspiciously, somewhat taken aback.

"Have we become that close?"

Looking at James' anxious face, Clement was a bit skeptical.

"If we're not close now, we can become close. Let's go," said James nonchalantly.

Clement was always serious and a bit older. Hence he didn't take too kindly to James' forwardness.
