In another corner of the city, the night was cold and silent.
Damian sat alone in the corner of an exclusive bar, holding a crystal glass of red wine that he hadn’t touched in ten minutes. The dim bar lights only partially illuminated his face, revealing a blank stare and a wrinkled expression that looked much older than his years.
Damian swirled the glass slowly, staring at the red liquid inside as if hoping for an answer to emerge from the small swirl at the bottom.
“Funny, huh,” he murmured softly, barely audible to anyone. “I used to think I knew everything... now I can’t even save the one thing that matters most in my life.”
His left hand squeezed his temple, while his right finally raised the glass and took a big gulp of the wine. It was bitter, sour, and warm—but none of the flavors could calm the chaos in his head.
