Chapter 124
Elias’s POV
They left together, and I just stood there, blood dripping onto the floor, my face throbbing in time with my pounding heart. The pub fell into an oppressive silence, and I could feel every patron’s gaze fixed on me, no doubt wondering what I’d do next. What was I going to do next? The police had probably been called by now, but honestly, I didn’t care. So what if I ended up behind bars? It wouldn’t matter to me anymore—my whole life felt like a prison since Maya was gone.
The barman cleared his throat. “You should probably leave.” He was right.
The adrenaline had drained away, leaving only the sharp ache in my face. Physical pain I could handle; it was the endless emotional torment that was unbearable. I even considered picking a fight with someone else—letting them finish the job—but I couldn’t summon the energy.
