Chapter 38. The Glamorous

Unwillingly, Valerie walked down the stairs, holding little Audrey's hand. She wished there was a way she would talk herself out of following the father and daughter.

“I'm doomed! How will I face my boss, who had posed as my boyfriend last night?”

She suddenly halted, and Audrey turned to her swiftly. “Miss old-fashioned, are you okay? You're acting so weird.”

In a bid to cover up for her weird behavior, Valerie forced a smile at her. “Baby, don't you think I should change into a better outfit? I can't wear a nanny uniform.”

After a few minutes of silence, Audrey reluctantly agreed with her. “Okay, miss old-fashioned. Daddy and I will be waiting for you outside.”

Audrey waved at her as she ran out of the mansion. Breathing heavily, Valerie headed to the servant's quarter. Thoughts filled her mind, but she had no answers to the questions in her head.
