Chapter 3

“You need to go to the hospital!” she repeated, but he continued looking at her as if he wasn't in her world.

He managed to stand on his feet, pulling off his shirt and leaving himself in his singlet. “Stop being stubborn, Cage! You’ve caused so much damage already, constituting a nuisance everywhere.”

Cage looked at his wife, wondering how she could utter those sentences to him. He was the one who had created a nuisance now? What about her boss?

Should he have watched him continue disrespecting him just because he’s poor and he’s rich? Everyone should have equal rights.

The country might have turned upside down, and the rich rule, but he wasn’t going to allow that to happen to him.

He even went to the extent of wanting to have an affair with his wife right in front of him.

“Since you refuse to go to the hospital, you can suit yourself!” Lucy said to him plainly. She was hurt with everything that had transpired, and he was still being stubborn.

She packed her things and walked out of the hall. He wiped the blood from his forehead and staggered out of the room too. He knew everything was already messed up.

No one would believe him anyway. He was the poor guy married to a stable wife, and her boss was the one they should be begging for mercy from.

Such an irony, Cage thought while walking out of the hotel through the back door. He didn’t regret any of his actions except sitting down at the table per his request.

His small phone started ringing in his left pocket. He brought the phone out and blinked shortly before picking up the call. It was a strange number, but who cares? It might just be one of her boss's pranks.

“Hello,” he answered.

“Mr. Jones, would you mind stepping down to the car park for a few minutes?” the caller asked him over the line.

He wondered who it could be. He had never been addressed with so much respect right on his face before, and this person just did that through a phone call.

“I would be there,” he replied and hung up. He couldn't even guess who it could be, yet he had it at the back of his mind that it could be one of Lucy’s pranks.

He headed down to the car park, holding his bloody shirt in one hand after putting on his clothes from the closet.

He needed no one to tell him that his work at Trump was over when he had fought with one of their VIP customers.

“Master!” the old man bowed his head, greeting him.

He did not understand why the man had to call him master and show him so much respect.

“Your exile period is over,” the old man said to him, handing over a VIP card with a cell phone to him.

Cage was happy to hear him say that. “I will surely return,” he replied, and the old man headed back into the car that brought him there.

He left, not without bowing his head respectfully to Cage. The car drove away, and Cage smiled.

Sincere happiness was obvious on his face, and he hadn't taken two steps when a BMW car drove roughly, hitting him. He landed on the floor, hitting his arms on the ground.

He held onto the card and the cell phone in his hand tightly. Tyler, his friend who also worked as a waiter inside the hotel, rushed up to him.

He had seen the whole incident from afar. “I will take you to the hospital,” he said to Cage.

“No, don’t worry about me, I will be fine,” Cage said, groaning in pain.

Cage knew he needed medical attention, but he also knew that the card and cell phone in his hand were at risk if he went to the hospital.

He needed to keep these safe, he thought and managed to stand on his feet. He was surprised it was no other person than his wife's boss.

He had his driver run him over with his car.

Mr. Augustus stepped down from the car, accompanied by his assistant, and on the other side was Lucy's best friend.

“Look at how miserable your life has been since you decided to be an arrogant poor man?” Mr. Augustus laughed heartily without a hint of remorse for hitting him.

“You just hit a citizen, and all you can do is laugh?” Griffin asked with a frown. He was sure that the CCTV camera was watching them, but Mr. Augustus was a rich, powerful man.

“What did he just say?” Mr. Augustus couldn’t hold in his laughter. He couldn’t believe Griffin just called himself a citizen.

“You’re a citizen? You’re nothing but a waiter here and a poor thing!” he said, pocketing his hands.

Griffin swallowed hard, while Tyler couldn’t utter a word. He knew saying a word would drag him into trouble along with Cage.

Mr. Augustus was a very powerful man with connections everywhere, and he wouldn’t dare speak back to him the way Griffin did. After all, he had a rich wife, but who did he have?

“Why don’t you apologize to me now, and I will forget about everything you did to me today?” Mr. Augustus said arrogantly while the rest watched Cage struggle with his injuries.

“Why should I apologize to you?” Cage asked Mr. Augustus back with so much boldness in him. He believed Mr. Augustus was the one who needed to apologize.

This made Mr. Augustus wonder what suddenly gave him this boldness. He was nothing before him, yet he had the guts to speak to him this way.

Mr. Augustus wasn’t the only one surprised by his boldness. “I won’t apologize to you ever, so you do your worst!” Cage said firmly, shocking everyone.

“I don't owe anybody an apology, and if someone has to apologize, it should be you, Mr. Augustus,” Cage uttered without hesitation.
